Upcoming Networking Opportunities
If you were wondering where I ( Bill Austin ) will be networking in the next couple of weeks, I plan to be at the following networking events. There might be some that I miss due to circumstances beyond my control and I will very likely be at more places than this but as of today – these are the places to be – the happening places – the places to grow your business, to find work, to find employees and to meet interesting people.
On Tuesday July 29, 2008 Austin’s “Who’s Who” In Arizona will be at Barcelona’s Restaurant – 15440 N Greenway Hayden Loop, Scottsdale from 6 PM to 9 PM. Meet VIP BJ Davis Hollywood Director / Producer / Stuntman. BJ Davis is the President of the Arizona Film & TV Festival which will showcase new and upcoming filmmakers by giving them a place to reveal their feature films, short films and student films. Helen McCready is the Festival Director. Part of the proceeds from the Arizona Film & TV Festival will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Phoenix.
Monday, August 4th is the quarterly meeting and second anniversary bash for the Hispanic 50-50 Business Alliance. From 4:30 until 7:00 PM at TRADICIONES RESTAURANT in Phoenix at 1602 E Roosevelt St. Phoenix, AZ 85006 – RSVP at the web site for free admission or $5 at the door.
On Tuesday August 5, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM the Scottsdale Job Network (SJN) will meet at Temple Chai, 4645 East Marilyn Road, Phoenix for networking and education in the career transition process. Kathy Thiessen, Site Supervisor, Phoenix Workforce Connection, offers an overview of the Phoenix Workforce Connection One Stop Career Centers and provides information about federal grant funding through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) to provide career development and employment search resources to job seekers and business. Melanie Smith, Workforce Connection Career Advisor/Job Coach, will offer detail about the program services that she provides to those seeking to upgrade skills and/or connect with employment opportunities. recruiters and employers seeking workers are welcome to attend and meet the job seekers.

On Tuesday August 19, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM the Scottsdale Job Network will meet for networking and education in the career transition process. The topic will be STATE OF AZ WORKFORCE INITIATIVE with Peter Polk, Retired Healthcare Executive and Member, Governor’s Task Force on Aging, Mature Worker Initiative. Peter will discuss the actions being taken by the State of Arizona to promote hiring and retaining the mature worker. Peter has served on the State Mature Workforce committee for the past 6 years, and continues his involvement.

Also on August 19, 2008 there will be Community Connections Tour from 11:00 to 12:00 Noon at Community Information & Referral (CIR) in downtown Phoenix located at 2200 N Central Ave. Suite 601, Phoenix. This is a one hour tour to acquaint visitors with the services provider by the CIR 24/7 Health and Human Services Hotlines. These include Elder Care, Homeless, Domestic Violence, HIV/AIDS, Immunizations, Tax Help, Foreclosure Prevention, Financial Emergency and more.
